American Friends of The Hebrew University (AFHU), is a national, not-for-profit organization that provides programs, events and fundraising activities in support of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel’s foremost center of higher education and research.  Since inception Hebrew University’s scientists, scholars and researchers are committed to solving the most pressing global challenges of our time.

We are looking for an individual that will provide administrative support to the Governance Manager, particularly in the areas of coordination of board and committee meetings, planning of the annual board of governors meeting, maintaining of national roster and directory, and other special projects.



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and superb interpersonal skills
  • Organizational, analytical, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to meet goals under demanding time constraints and changing priorities
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong ability to prioritize and achieve results

  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels
  • Maintain strict confidentiality


  • Assist with coordination of monthly/quarterly committee meetings
  • Assist with coordination of quarterly board weekends
  • Assist with planning of annual board of governors meetings in Israel
  • Assist with honorary doctorate and fellowship nominations process
  • Assist with updates to national roster and board directory
  • Assist in nominations process for annual elections
  • Monitor updates to email distribution lists
  • Assist with updates to the leadership manual
  • Assist in the implementation of a governance archive
  • Governance filing
