JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Reports to: Associate Director, Office of Academic Affairs

Essential duties & Responsibilities:  

The Admissions Assistant is responsible for assisting the Office of Academic Affairs with clerical and organizational duties. The Admissions Assistant is frequently the first point of contact, and therefore must be highly skilled in maintaining a professional demeanor with the public in person and on the telephone.  Congeniality, warmth and assertiveness are essential.  The administrative and clerical nature of this role requires good organization skills and the willingness and ability to pay close attention to details.  The Admissions Assistant is responsible for the following tasks, and may be required to perform other duties as well:

ADMISSIONS Assistance duties:

  • Compiles and processes program applications including following up on pending or incomplete applications.
  • Conducts application reviews, including the evaluation of supplemental application materials, in order to determine eligibility for RIS admissions.
  • Maintains correspondence with applicants and their respective study abroad offices throughout their application process.
  • Regularly updates computer database with student information and applications status.
  • Communications via telephone and email with prospective, in-process, and current students, parents, and partner institutions.  
  • Maintains marketing materials.
  • Prepares and sends mailings.
  • Works with recruiting staff to box and send supplies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team to meet deadlines and complete projects required
  • Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and proofreading
  • Familiarity with the Hebrew language is preferred.
  • Israel experience and knowledge of studying abroad in Israel is preferred.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook email program
  • Ability to load, unload, transport and assemble display materials.
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively and positively with others

Compensation:

Based on education, skills, and prior work experience.
